The flying Desk

'The flying Desk' is an early internet media lab in Amsterdam I founded in 1994. The company connected and hosted grassroot internet content. To support experimental content delivery, sometimes we applied our code and knowledge base to applications, i.e. Wehkamp auction on-line for Young and Rubicon Amsterdam. We setup free linux hosting for nonprofit organisations, i.e. Rhizome, NameSpace and nettime. Desk.nl peaked in 1995 and 1996. The dutch Thing and Desk Org were added as an art base and focused on european net cultural production. Desk.org is the primary art server.
